The Mural of the Story

The ultimate process art experience!

Bring your family or group to Art Party Studio for an incredible, super-fun collaborative mural experience! 

You will be guided through a collaborative creative experience, using various mediums (watercolor, acrylic paint, pastels, etc) and techniques (painting with brushes, imprints with objects, splattering and more) on an oversized unstretched large canvas. Together, you create a beautiful, meaningful piece of art for your home.

Every time you walk by it, or a friend asks about the new painting adorning your wall, you'll be reminded of the experience your family shared together, and what you created. It's an awesome feeling to have this snapshot of time greet you every day in your home.

Here’s what’s included:

  • 5 X 5 foot Unstretched canvas (a larger canvas is available. Please contact us for more info.)

  • Exploration call to brainstorm and learn more about your family or groups goals.

  • All the tools, supplies, and art materials you could dream of!

  • Process art guidance to help reveal your masterpiece. (Don’t worry - we will guide you all the way through. We even give you snacks along the way!

  • Clean up

  • We'll connect you to our favorite local framer, who can stretch your canvas and frame it post-session. It gets better — they deliver and you will get our 20% off discount!)

We want you to go home with a piece that ignites happiness, reminds you of the freedom you felt creating it and the bonding you experienced with your group. This is such an incredible opportunity for everyone involved. It’s great for families, coworkers, bridal showers, baby showers, and more. 

GROUP SIZE:

Your mural experience includes up to 6 artists. If you’d like to include additional artists, we’re happy to accommodate them for $50 per additional artist. Please let us know at least 30 days before your mural date so we can plan accordingly.

TIME OF MURAL:

We find that 10:00 AM or 10:30 AM are the best times to do the mural. We offer our murals on the weekend pending availability.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

  • We will get settled, sneak a peek at my family mural and then head down to the main art room where we will have the canvas and supplies all set up ready to go.

  • We start with pastels and then I'll move you through various mediums and different ways to connect to the canvas. 

  • We will have a snack for you to take a break and then come back for last looks and then to add any finishing touches. 

  • Working barefoot is nice as everyone's footprints will end up on the canvas and it's so cool to see layered in the piece.

  • I'll guide you through it all -- always holding space for where your family wants to go. 

  • Each family is different in terms of how long the process takes.  I like to allow 1 - 2 hours for the process. It usually falls around 1 hour. 

OUR STUDIO + ACCESSIBILITY:

Art Party operates out of our home in Glencoe, with a dedicated creative studio on the lower level. Our mural experiences take place in this space, which is accessible by stairs only.

If anyone in your group uses a wheelchair, is unable to use stairs, or has other physical or accessibility needs that may affect access to the studio, please let us know in advance. We want everyone to be able to fully participate, and knowing ahead of time gives us the opportunity to make a plan that works for your group.

When our lower-level studio isn’t accessible for someone in your group, we can arrange an outdoor creative space at our home. Because this option is weather-dependent, we may need to have some flexibility as your mural date approaches.

PLEASE BRING:

  • A change of clothes

  • A clean pair of socks to cover your feet after 

  • A towel for the ride home - just in case

  • Please leave any jewelry or watches at home as we will be working with permanent paint and inks.

                                 REBOOKING:      

When you reserve your mural date, the studio and our team are reserved exclusively for your group, which means we are unable to book another event during that time. If you need to reschedule, a $200 rebooking fee will apply.

For changes made within 24 hours of your scheduled mural, the rebooking fee is 50% of the mural price, as preparation for your experience will already be underway.
